WEBER COUNTY, Utah — The Weber County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a road rage incident Tuesday afternoon that reportedly involved a BB gun.
According to Lt. Colby Ryan, of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a report of someone with a gunshot wound, in the area of 3500 West 4000 South at 3:55 p.m.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the alleged victim in his car.
Through interviews with witnesses, deputies determined it was a road rage incident involving a BB gun. Ryan says there were no real guns involved and nobody was injured in the incident.
However, he said at the end of the investigation stories began to change.
Police say a male driver, between the ages of 30 and 40, claims he was driven off the road by a younger driver and shown an obscene gesture.
The older male then followed the other driver. And when he got out of his car, he was carrying what was perceived to be a pipe, according to police. Police then say he began to rush toward the car of the younger driver.
The 20-year-old male got out of his car and allegedly started shooting a BB gun at the other male. However, police said they haven’t been able to locate any pellets from the BB gun.
Police also said the road rage incident began at 4000 South Midland Drive. It continued to 3500 West where they stopped.
Due to the ongoing investigation into the incident, Ryan said there may be charges filed, he just isn’t sure when.
