SALT LAKE CITY — Utah State Fire Marshal Ted Black announced the 2022 fireworks purchase and discharge dates on Monday.
According to state fire marshal’s website, Class C fireworks can only be sold on the following dates:
The discharge of fireworks is between the hours of 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. Unless otherwise noted.
Black tells KSL News Radio that if you light fireworks off outside of those dates, you could be fined up to $1,000.
Another dry summer is forecasted for 2022. Black is hopeful that all Utahns will be responsible in how they discharge fireworks this year.
“Look around your environment,” he said. “Whether you are camping, or lighting fireworks or whatever you are doing that could potentially cause a fire. And if you are in a hazardous environment, choose another way to celebrate.”
He recommends that you check your city’s website to see exactly what fire restrictions are in place where you live.
