SALT LAKE CITY — Planned Parenthood of Utah filed a lawsuit Saturday aiming to block S.B. 174, or Utah’s trigger law.

Utah’s trigger law, which bans most abortions in the state, took effect Friday evening after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade earlier in the day.

S.B. 174 was passed by the Utah State Legislature in 2020. It bans abortion in most cases in the state. The few exceptions include cases of incest, rape and certain medical emergencies. This was contingent on a U.S Supreme Court decision on the matter, which came Friday.
