SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Transportation is seeking the public’s feedback on the future of Bangerter Highway from 4100 South to California Avenue.

UDOT will hold scoping open houses at Granger High School for the public to share their feedback. The events will be held Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, it will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Wednesday, the event runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

According to a UDOT news release, this is part of the final environmental study needed to remove the remaining stoplights on the highway.

According to the news release, the scoping open houses are a chance for individuals to tell UDOT what matters the most to them. The public feedback will help determine what changes occur on the highway as the new route between 4100 South and California Avenue is designed.

If you are unable to attend one of the open houses, the information is available here. Additionally, comments can also be emailed to bangerter@utah.gov.

UDOT says once the study is finalized, and a freeway path is chosen, it plans to move forward with the construction on this section of highway starting as early as 2028.

Bangerter Highway

According to UDOT, 10 stoplights at intersections on Bangerter Highway have been removed thus far. They have been replaced with freeway-style interchanges.

Construction is scheduled for four more intersections in 2023 along Bangerter Highway – 2700 West, 13400 South, 9800 South and 4700 South.

According to UDOT, once construction is complete on Bangerter Highway, including the removal of all stoplights at intersections, it is projected that travel time from I-15 in Draper to Salt Lake City International Airport will be reduced by 20 minutes.
