SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah — Deputy Chief Kenny Johnson with Saratoga Springs Fire Department confirmed Monday a brush fire in Saratoga springs.

The blaze was located north of Spinnaker Bay Drive and spanned 1.5 acres.

“The fire was brought under control with no one injured and no property damaged,” Johnson said.

He said the fire appears to have been caused by an aerial firework that tipped over sideways and ignited the brush.

The person responsible reported the fire at around 9:58 p.m. on Sunday. They are cooperating with the authorities.

“With the winds this evening, we’re just really encouraging people to consider the safety of aerial fireworks and where they’re lighting them,” Johnson said. “And just to take a look at all the information that’s out there from the State Fire Marshal’s office. Or even for [Saratoga Springs] citizens, on our website and Facebook page, we have what those restrictions are for fireworks and just some tips on firework safety.”
