Crews continue to battle pair of fires near Fillmore

FILLMORE, Utah — A pair of fires continued to burn Saturday in central Utah as fire officials continue battle the blazes near Fillmore.

Halfway Hill Fire

On Saturday, Utah Fire Info reported that the Halfway Hill Fire has grown in size to roughly 6,640 acres. Air resources have been limited by wind gusts.

According to a news release from the Utah Interagency Fire, moderate growth in the fire was observed from Friday night. Additional resources were expected to arrive on the scene Saturday.

As of Saturday afternoon, the only evacuations impacted by this fire is the Virginia Hills subdivision.

The road closures impacted by the fire is from Chalk Creek FR100 south to Meadow Creek FR501 and all interior trails. This closure order will remain in place for the safety of firefighters and the public. For a map of the road closure click on the link below.

Dry Creek Fire

According to Utah Fire Info, the Dry Creek Fire was at 900 acres as of Friday night and was 0% contained. 

According to a news release, spent Friday night trying to secure the fire’s edge. 

Evacuations from this fire are those in Oak Creek Canyon. Road closures impacted by the fire are Oak Creek and Dry Creek Roads. For a map of the road closures
