SALT LAKE CITY — More and more money is pouring into the race between Evan McMullin and Sen. Mike Lee for Utah’s Senate seat. Millions of dollars have already been raised by both the challenger and the incumbent.

McMullin’s campaign said Monday they’ve broken a fundraising record by raising over $1.4 million in the last quarter.

In a press release, the McMullin campaign said the $1.4 million broke the record “for any Utah challenger in a federal election.”

McMullin’s campaign said 85% of McMullin’s fundraising last quarter was from grassroots supporters.

“Every last dime that Evan has raised has been from individuals. I think that’s actually a big difference between Evan and Sen. Lee,” Andrew Roberts, McMullin’s campaign manager said.

The $1.4 million brings McMullin’s total raised up to $3.2 million, according to his campaign.

Incumbent Sen. Mike Lee has also raised millions for his campaign.

According to data from the Federal Election Commission, Lee has raised over $7.3 million. His campaign raised $5.5 million of that total in the last year and a half.
