SALT LAKE CITY — The Davis School District has selected a new assistant superintendent less than a year after just having hired a new assistant superintendent.
Dr. Fidel A. Montero will replace Dr. Jacqueline Thompson on Aug. 8, said Davis School District Superintendent Dr. Dan Linford.
“Fidel’s background, experience and expertise will be an invaluable and incredible asset to Davis School District and our students here,” Linford said in a press release. “His focus on student learning and his knowledge and understanding of organizational development are fantastic. And we are excited to have him as a member of our leadership team.”
Montero has most recently served as the principal at Timpview High School. He has 20 years of experience in public education. Additionally, Montero has multiple degrees, including a Bachelor of Arts in social science teaching from Brigham Young University, where he is also an adjunct faculty member.
According to Montero, working as a migrant worker after his family immigrated to the U.S. from Mexico instilled values that forged his experience as a college graduate and educator.
“Serving children at any level is a humbling stewardship I will never take for granted,” Montero said in a press release. “… My personal journey, blended with my academic training and professional experience, uniquely equips me with the context to support the people that make up DSD.”
