SALT LAKE CITY — This morning the Utah Transit Authority canceled ten trips on TRAX blueline this heading both northbound and southbound. The UTA said it canceled the trips because of a lack of staff and unexpected absences.

UTA Spokesman Carl Arky said the UTA is experiencing the same staffing shortages affecting other companies throughout the country.

“We need people to go back to work, we need people to come back to work. Come back to work for UTA, come back to work for a lot of companies,” said Carl Arky, spokesman for UTA.

The UTA said it hopes to hire more workers and complete the training of a few more drivers in the coming weeks.

They hope to have services back up and running this afternoon. The last scheduled cancellation is a northbound trip at 2:13 p.m.

For a full UTA schedule check the UTA website.
