WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — West Valley City Police have released a description of a car possibly involved in a fatal hit and run last night.

Police think an 11-year-old boy was hit by a silver or gray colored pickup truck. Police think it could be a Toyota Tacoma or something similar. This car should have front-end damage.

WVCPD said the boy and his mom were walking on 4000 W. at about 4200 S. in West Valley, Utah around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday.

A car left the roadway, got onto the sidewalk and hit the boy.

Roxanne Vainuku with WVCPD told Utah’s Morning News that the driver did not stop after hitting the boy.

“She was just walking along the street, talking to her son and in an instant, he was gone,” Vainuku said.

Police said the boy was taken to a hospital where he later died. The mother was not injured.

The WVCPD is looking for the car involved and investigators are gathering evidence to get a description of the car.

Vainuku said police are looking at the materials of the car left at the scene to get more information.

Police said the car will have front-end damage. Anyone with information is asked to call 801-840-4000.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
