VERNAL, Utah — Officials said the North Blue Fire was 80% contained as of Thursday night. It is estimated to be 10 acres.

Utah Fire Info said that the fire was caused by lightning.

The North Blue Fire is burning on Blue Mountain, which is 20 miles east of Vernal.

Utah Fire Info says there are no structures being threatened as of about 4:30 PM Thursday. It also says 5 engines, an air attack plane, and 3 single-engine air tankers have been assigned to combat the blaze.

On Friday Aug. 12 the North Blue fire has been mapped at six acres.

After being assisted by aircraft dropping water and retardant, firefighters expect full containment after shift today as the mountain received a heft amount of rain last night.
