EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah — A 21-year-old woman is being sought by the Utah County Sheriff’s Office for her involvement in a domestic violence incident on Sunday.

Police responded to a report of a woman slashing the tires on a vehicle and then scratching words into the paint of the vehicle.

Police say the woman, Madeline Bernadette Lopez, 21, of Herriman, then went to the apartment of her ex-boyfriend. According to police, their 13-month-old child also lives with her ex-boyfriend.

At the entrance of the apartment, police say, Lopez tried to enter the apartment. However, the ex-boyfriend would not let her in.

Police were informed that Lopez was reportedly using some sort of taser. It was used to shock the door handle.

Police say, Lopez forcefully opened the door, while the victim was holding their child.

Once inside the apartment, police say, Lopez placed the taser near her ex-boyfriend and told him to let go of the child. Eventually, the victim was able to back away from Lopez and flee from the apartment.

Police say that as the victim left the apartment, Lopez said he couldn’t leave because his tires had been slashed.

Lopez then left the apartment and go into a vehicle driven by Dana Michelle Islas Candelas, 19, of Murray. According to law enforcement personnel, Lopez told the victim she could come back and take the child anytime she desired.

Police have not been able to locate Lopez. They tried calling her, but she didn’t answer. Later, she called back to tell police that all she wanted was her child.

According to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, Lopez will be charged on suspicion of burglary of a dwelling/domestic violence. That is a second-degree felony. Additionally, she will also be charged on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault/domestic violence, which is a third-degree felony. Lopez will also be charged on suspicion of criminal mischief, which is also a third-degree felony.

The Sheriff’s Office also says the woman who assisted Lopez will also be charged for her involvement in the incident.
