MURRAY, Utah — The Murray City Police Department is looking into a man who approached two children in Murray Sunday night and tried to convince them to get into his car.

Sgt. Paul Christiansen with Murray Police said the man approached the two kids as they played on a basketball court around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

The man asked the children to get into the car but they ran away to get an adult.

The man went back into his car but neighbors who were around tried to stop him. One of the neighbors punched the man in the face, but the man got away.

The car is a red Suburu station wagon, though police do not have a license plate number for the car.

Christiansen said the man was described to be around 30 to 49 years old.

Neighbors had not seen the man in the neighborhood before.

Investigators are trying to get video from neighbors of the incident.

Christiansen said the incident was turned over to detectives to investigate.
