OGDEN, Utah — The Ogden Fire Department says that the evacuations put in place to serve homeowners near the Valley Fire were lifted on Wednesday afternoon.

Deputy Fire Chief Mike Slater predicts firefighters will stay on scene with several engines for the next few days.

“We need all the help we can get from the community so that we’re not out here fighting these fires in 100 degree weather,” Slater said.

The cause is still under investigation. But Slater says it’s likely human caused.

A fire that began on Tuesday caused two rounds of evacuations, the first 30 homes were evacuated off of Valley Drive, west of Rainbow Garden. A second evacuation of 10 homes was callled later in the evening as fire activity increased.

Officials said no structures were lost, but weather conditions caused challenges for crews.

Utah Fire Info said crews are continuing to work to contain the fire.

Before the second evacuation was ordered, the Ogden Fire Department confirmed that the fire was 30% contained.
