WEST JORDAN, Utah — Around 3:05 p.m. Wednesday afternoon witnesses called dispatch to report a small plane going down at a soccer field complex located at 8000 S. 4000 West.

The aircraft departed from Salt Lake City Municipal Airport 2 in West Jordan, and appeared to struggle to gain altitude, says Richard Bell, deputy chief of West Jordan Police Department. Witnesses told police the plane descended quickly into the field.

Furthermore, no fire occurred as a result of the crash and the two occupants got out uninjured.

Bell said the plane did sustain some damage. Also, he said the aircraft will remain on the field until an investigation is carried out.

The WJPD and National Transportation Safety Board responded to the accident.

Additionally, no one was on the soccer field at the time the plane landed.
