SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah State Board of Education is asking for feedback from Utahns on the SHARP Survey, which the Board voted to pull support from just last June.
The SHARP Survey, which stands for Student Health and Risk Prevention Survey, is a risk prevention survey used to learn about student drug use and anti-social behavior. Schools give it to students every two years, starting in middle school and ending senior year.
The Board voted to pull support from it due to concerns it negatively impacted youth. But they want to hear from Utah citizens before deciding whether or not to support the survey in 2023.
They’ve published a survey asking for feedback on the SHARP Survey, which they’ll use to inform their decision. Community members can submit feedback until Oct. 2.
The Board will have a meeting on Oct. 6 to discuss the survey and community feedback.
Whether the Board pulls support or not, it will still be up to individual schools on whether to utilize the survey.
