CEDAR CITY, Utah — Authorities in Cedar City are on the lookout for a fugitive who has an outstanding warrant.

According to Lt. Clint Pollock of the Cedar City Police Department, AP&P officers went to take a fugitive into custody shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday. The suspect got into a vehicle. AP&P officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle. However, it fled from the area of 1150 W 400 South.

Pollock says a short pursuit followed but was called off after the pursuit entered a walking trail area. The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled.

Pollock says authorities set up containment in Cedar Canyon. Additionally, Pollock also said the driver of the vehicle with the wanted fugitive was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect has yet to be found. Pollock says there is no threat to the public. Authorities have an idea of who the suspect is and the connection to this incident.
