SALT LAKE CITY — While the drought continues, the Utah Division of Water Resources said our water conservation efforts are working. Utahns managed to keep water levels consistent with where they were at this time last year.

The Utah Division of Water Resources reported that water levels are similar to where they were last year at this time. Which the division said is a good thing and it means our conservation efforts are working.

“Water usage did increase during the record hot temps earlier this month, but overall, Utahns across the state have helped save billions of gallons,” said Candice Hasenyager, director of the Division of Water Resources in a press release.

Almost 57% of Utah is still in fairly severe drought conditions, which is still high, but an improvement. This year’s number is quite a bit lower than the 88% from last year.

This doesn’t mean we’re out of the woods though as water levels are continuing to drop.

Water levels are still low so they urge residents to continue their water-saving efforts.
