SALT LAKE CITY —  A new healthcare drone delivery system will be unveiled on Oct. 4. The launch is a combined effort between Intermountain Healthcare and Zipline.

The system is designed to deliver prescriptions and medical products straight to a patient’s door.

The two companies call this a unique service for patients and the first of its kind in Utah healthcare. The drone deliveries will be available throughout the Salt Lake Valley.

The program has been in the works for sometime. Intermountain Healthcare and Zipline announced the plans in the spring of 2021.

At that time,  Zipline co-founder and CEO Keller Rinaudo said in a news release, “Patients can connect with providers from the home, and then receive the medications and supplies they need in a matter of minutes, directly to their doorsteps.

The drones will be  showcased Tuesday morning to show exactly how they will work and how it will benefit patients.
