OREM, Utah — Bishop L. Todd Budge, second counselor in the Presiding Bishopric of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, spoke Wednesday at the Why It Matters conference at Utah Valley University.

Bishop Budge spoke on the importance of caring for the earth.

“We have an obligation to be good stewards, to pass to future generations an earth better than we found it through the habits and values of wise stewardship,” he said.

The Why it Matters conference will run through Friday. The purpose of the conference is to discuss 17 United Nations sustainable development goals. Also, to inspire people to make a longer-lasting world.

Bishop Budge’s talk comes less than a week after Presiding Bishop Gérald Caussé gave a talk at general conference about environmental stewardship.
