SALT LAKE CITY — Warren Miller ski films encapsulate the world of legendary mountains and risky runs. Every athlete featured on the screen is portrayed with a sense of grit and bravery. Now, a young Utah skier has been added to the roster of athletes highlighted in Miller films.

A sixteen-year-old athlete from Snowbasin, Tyler Blocker, will star in the new Warren Miller film “Daymaker.”

This adventure began as Blocker made his way to his home mountain for what he thought was going to be a typical day of skiing. That’s when Blocker was met by surprise.

Two professional skiers, Johnny Moseley and Marcus Caston, along with an entire film crew said they were ready to “flip this kid’s world upside down” and begin a week of filming and touring Snowbasin

This opportunity arose when Warren Miller asked fans to nominate their favorite local skier or snowboarder for a possible feature position in his new movie.

The team found Blocker among hundreds of nominations.

“Nothing can compare to a day ripping with legends on your home mountain,” said Blocker in a press release. “This was truly a dream come true, and to think I was just planning to get some laps in with my friends.

I’m thankful for the opportunity to have shown off some of the hidden gems of Snowbasin. This place is full of surprises!”

Blocker said he is not only glad to represent the sport on screen, but also to showcase some of Utah’s lesser-known terrain. Others agree that showing off Utah skiing is easy to do.

“Having the opportunity to represent Utah’s ski resorts within this film and showcase the high quality of skiing and expansive terrain available in this beautiful state is an honor,” said Davy Ratchford, General Manager at Snowbasin Resort.

“What makes it even better? Getting to do that alongside one of this generation’s rising stars. Tyler is a captivating skier with a bright future, and we are lucky to have him skiing our mountain.
