SALT LAKE CITY –  Police have arrested a man who reportedly stole three ATMs holding over $10,000.

According to a probable cause statement, the man stole an ATM from a Marriot Hotel, and two ATMs from the Salt Palace. Police said Steven Early used his truck to move the ATMs before cutting into them to get the cash.

Police said the first attempt was back on September 26 at the Salt Palace but that Early was unsuccessful.  Early then went to a Marriot Hotel and stole their ATM.

A few weeks later on Oct. 11 he allegedly went back to the Salt Palace and stole an ATM.  Four days later, on Oct. 15 the suspect stole another ATM from there.

Each ATM was worth $2500 apiece and collectively held just over $10,000 in cash.

Authorities recognized his vehicle, Early reportedly fought as he was put into handcuffs. Police found an open alcohol bottle in his car along with a meth pipe.

After testing two of the found substances, Early allegedly had meth and heroin on him at the scene.  In addition to there being video of Early who stole ATMs, police allege he admitted to the thefts.

Early was arrested on suspicion of 12 different charges including theft, burglary, interference with a police officer, possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
