WEBER COUNTY, Utah —  County Clerks are reminding voters there are many reasons to get their ballot in early.

Weber County Clerk Ricky Hatch said it helps them get more work upfront which means more results come election day.

Receiving ballots early also gives county clerks more time to contact voters if signatures are missing to ensure the vote gets counted.

“Just make sure you sign your envelope,” said Hatch, noting they always contact voters to give them a chance to fix the signature.

“The number of challenged ballots we’re seeing is pretty much in line with what we’ve seen in prior elections, usually it’s under 2%.”

Hatch said another reason to vote early is to stop those pesky campaign calls.

“You know those annoying mailers and phone calls, emails and text messages you get from a campaign; once you’ve voted those largely go away.”

The mid-term elections take place on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
