MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. — Election officials in Arizona say printer settings were to blame for problems with ballot tabulators. It was a problem found at roughly a quarter of the polling stations in Maricopa County on Tuesday.
Martha Maurer, news director at KTAR in Arizona, told KSL NewsRadio Tuesday evening the problem has been nearly resolved.
“Almost all of the 60 vote centers that had experienced tabulation problems from the morning have mostly been fixed,” she said. “We’ve learned that it was a problem with a printer setting that was causing some of the ballots to not be processed through the tabulation machines.”
Maurer also tells KSL NewsRadio that the Republican National Committee took legal action Tuesday night. The committee along with Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and Senate candidate Blake Masters filed a lawsuit requesting that the closure of the polls be delayed by three hours.
The RNC was also seeking a delay in the release of the first batch of results by three hours. The first batch of results are scheduled to be released an hour after the polls closed.
However, a judge ruled against the Republicans, allowing the polls to close on schedule at 7 p.m.
