The Salt Lake City Council heard some comments Tuesday night about the Parks, Trails and Open Space Bond that will be on the ballot Nov. 8
SALT LAKE CITY — As of Wednesday morning, Utahns who voted on Salt Lake County ballot issues are in favor of the general obligation bond.
The parks, trails, and open spaces bond, according to slc.gov, will build on existing investments to enhance the public lands system.
Specifically, Salt Lake City plans to fund eight projects across the city.
As of Wednesday morning, 68.63% of qualified voters, (equating to 23, 496 people) said yes to the bond. And 10,740 voters said no.
The large gap could be due to the public input sessions held by the city. Attendees not only gave input on the spending but also on how they would like the money to be spent.
As the open space bond proposition notes, all of the funded projects will include “comprehensive community engagement.”
Because of Utah’s heavy reliance on mail-in ballots, counting could continue into late next week.
