SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s veterans are receiving a complementary Thanksgiving meal courtesy of the Ken Garff company and employees.
Two branches of the automotive company in Salt Lake City are banding together to supply 500 Thanksgiving spreads complete with vegetables, cornbread, Jell-O, pudding, cranberry, potatoes, gravy, and a pumpkin pie.
Ken Gaff’s turkey day project will allow veterans to drive through to pick up a free turkey, a reusable tote bag filled with sides and a pumpkin pie.
The company wrote in a statement the giveaway is, “A small token of our gratitude for their sacrifice and service.”
All veterans are welcome to drive through with their military ID, with no appointment or reservation necessary.
Veterans can show up between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Nov. 21 to the VA campus, 500 S. Foothill Drive, SLC in front of Building 9.
“Ken Garff employees are passionate about serving those that have served our country and enjoy putting these kits together every year,” said Emma Checketts at Ken Garff Automotive in a press release.
“We want to show love and appreciation to our veterans during the holidays and help anyone who feels invisible to know they will always be visible to us.”
Since the first year of the turkey-giving service in 2021, the meals provided have doubled in size.
Any and all area locals are encouraged to come to the event on Nov. 21 to help distribute the 500 thanksgiving meals.
