SANDY, Utah — The Sandy City Fire Department will hold a push-in ceremony Saturday to celebrate its newest fire engine.

The event will be held at Sandy Fire Station 34, located at 10765 S. 700 East at 11 a.m.

Those in attendance at the event will get to help wash the new fire engine. They will also get to help push in the fire engine.

The push-in ceremony is a long tradition in the fire service industry going back to as early as the 1800s.

Local leaders along with Sandy Fire Chief Bruce Cline will speak at the ceremony.

The new engine replaces a fire engine that was purchased in 2010 and has more than 132,000 miles on it.

According to a news release from Sandy City, the new engine cost $760,000 and was ordered in July 2020.

“This will be a great addition [to] the fire department and the residents of Sandy City,” Cline said in the news release.
