SALT LAKE CITY — The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Pixies will all be in town in May for a yearly music festival. Tickets went on sale Wednesday for the 2023 Kilby Block Party.

The festival will be three days long instead of two and will be held at the State Fairgrounds instead of Library Square next year.

Lance Saunders is the co-owner of S&S Presents, the company that owns venues like Kilby Court and Urban Lounge. He said the 2022 event sold out of VIP tickets in five hours and sold out of two-day passes in about 5 days.

Even though tickets for 2023 have only been available for a few hours, S&S Presents is seeing its best ticket sales yet.

Kilby Court is known in Salt Lake City as a DYI-type venue that brings in both local and international acts. Saunders said the company wanted to showcase larger acts while still leaving room for Utah-based musicians.

“We also want to bolster that up to the limelight as well […] I think everyone needs an opportunity, so if we can use Kilby Block Party as a catalyst for that then so be it, I’d love it.”

He said S&S Presents is still waiting to announce more acts in a week – and it’ll make one final announcement for the lineup next month.

“It’s also kind of fun just to keep a little secret — just to keep popping things out. And getting people more excited, even people who have already purchased tickets.”

Saunders said single-day passes will be made available, but didn’t give a time frame.

People can wait for single-day passes but, Saunders said, if VIP multi-day passes sell out, they won’t be available for single-day passes.
