SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department announced Thursday a third arrest was made in connection to a September homicide.

Police say the arrest is in connection to the murder investigation of 17-year-old Bryan Galicia-Rodriguez.

According to a news release, police were notified of a shooting on Sept. 10 at 12:54 a.m. in the area of 500 S. Post Street.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim with critical injuries. They performed life-saving procedures on the victim. However, he later died at the hospital.

During the course of their investigation, police learned that a 16-year-old male, a 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old female followed the vehicle driven by the victim. Police say the three teenagers had plans to allegedly hijack the car driven by the victim.

However, police say the 16-year-old allegedly walked up to the side of the car on the driver’s side and shot several rounds inside the vehicle, striking the victim.

Police also say the juvenile then got back into the car allegedly driven by the 17-year-old and fled the scene.

According to the news release, the 16-year-old boy was taken into custody on Sept. 29. The 17-year-old was arrested for his alleged involvement on Oct. 5.

Police say the third arrest in the September homicide came Wednesday when the 15-year-old female was taken into custody. All three juveniles have been booked into the Salt Lake Valley Detention Center.
