SLCPD looking for driver of stolen truck that crashed into three vehicles

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City Police are searching for a 29-year-old man after they say he lost control of the stolen truck he was driving and crashed into three parked vehicles.

According to a news release, an officer saw the vehicle driving eastbound into oncoming traffic in the area of 1700 S. 900 West at 9:05 a.m. As the officer was alerting dispatch of the reckless driving, the truck crashed into the parked cars.

Following the crash, two people inside the truck fled the scene. 

A short time later, law enforcement personnel took the passenger, 24-year-old Kalie Valentine, into custody. However, police are still looking for the driver. According to the news release, the identity of the driver is known to police. 

Police are not releasing the identity of the driver of the stolen truck at this time. Additionally, they say the truck was reported missing out of Magna on Nov. 29.

One officer suffered a non-life-threatening injury in the chase after the driver.

According to the news release, Valentine has been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail in connection with one count of failure to stop at the command of a police officer and warrants.
