SALT LAKE CITY– This week marks the postal service’s busiest week of the year and that means it might take a little longer than usual for people to get their mail.

David Rupert with the United States Postal Service said customers will get their mail but it may not come at the normal time.

“You’re going to see a lot of deliveries at odd hours and that’s what it’s taking just because of our volume,” said Rupert.

Rupert also said some neighborhoods here and there may go a day without getting mail because of the large volume right now. But for the most part, neighborhoods should be getting daily news service.

“In some pockets, if you don’t see mail that day it may be delivered in the middle of the night or early the next morning.”

Rupert said carriers are working overtime, including nights and Sundays, to get all that mail out before the holidays.
