EDEN, Utah  —  Weber County recently approved a ski village to be added to the Nordic Valley Ski Resort. Cottages, townhomes, and commercial space will fill the village once the project is complete. Built on 500 acres surrounding the ski resort, the village is expected to increase tourism for the county.

Skyline Mountain Base and the Nordic Valley Land Associates say that they are hoping to get this project started soon. Zoning and getting the infrastructure ready is the first move. Their goal is to create the village so that it compliments the already existing ski resort.

“Our big focus is regulating the street perspective. As the public and the community uses the street what are they going to feel or experience at the street level,” said Charlie Ewert, principal planner for Weber County.

Ewert says that even though developers are looking to create residential and commercial spaces, there will still be areas for outdoor recreation.

“The development agreement requires trails to zig-zag all across the mountainside. So the community will have access to open space, mountainside, and trails.”

Ogden Valley residents disliked the idea when it was first presented last year. That was due, in part, to Commissioner Gage Froerer’s stake in the company of Nordic Valley Land Associates.  While Froerer had discussions with other commissioners about the project, he did not cast any votes for the project.

He also released a formal disclosure detailing any potential conflicts of interest. Froerer filed the disclosure with the county on Nov. 20th.
