SALT LAKE CITY — Holiday hassles persisted Tuesday at the Salt Lake City International Airport, as days of storm-related cancellations and delays combined with issues centered around Southwest Airlines to create headaches for travelers.

CNN reported more than 3,500 flights canceled headed into, within, or out of the United States on Monday, with roughly 71% of those coming from Southwest Airlines.

Salt Lake isn’t the worst affected airport in the country, but the day is still young.

And, the west coast in particular is looking at some rough weather conditions that could create even more cancellations and delays.

At Salt Lake City International Airport, Southwest accounted for around 62% of the roughly 73 flights canceled on Monday.

And by Tuesday afternoon, 60 arrivals and departures had been canceled so far at Salt Lake City International.

52 of the 60 can be attributed to just Southwest.

Whether you’re going or coming, you’re likely to be affected if you were hoping to travel today.

Your fastest source of updated information is going to be your airline itself. Most of them have a smartphone app that will update you in real time.

Bottom line, if you’re headed out, check with your airline and brace yourself for a bumpy ride.
