SALT LAKE CITY — There are a few spaces left to cycle for a great cause, with former WNBA legend Lisa Leslie. Leslie is in town for the NBA All-Star weekend helping raise money for Women of the World, a local non-profit that gives a fresh start to women in need.

Two events take place Friday at 12:30 p.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. at CHVRCH, a local, women-owned indoor cycling studio located 126 W. 900 S. Salt Lake City.

Cycling with Lisa Leslie

Event spokesman Richard Zhang tells KSL NewsRadio cycle ride-alongs with the 4x Olympic Gold Medalist Leslie will include a live DJ. It will also include two teams representing the East Coast and the West Coast.

“There will be music from the East Coast, and then there will be music from the West Coast…to keep it fun, but at the end of the day we want to raise money for a worthy cause, Women of the World. Our goal is $10,00o,” said Zhang.

Donations coming in

Zhang says the NBA has already donated $1,000. Many of Leslie’s friends, including WNBA star Candace Parker, have made donations as well.

Tickets are $50. And that includes a meet and greet with Leslie, and a post-ride cup of fresh juice from another women-owned brand called The Juice Shop. It is billed as Salt Lake City’s Newest Community-Inspired Neighborhood Juicery and Wellness Destination.

“It’s a fresh cup of juice made by this amazing brand called The Juice Shop, also women-owned based in Salt Lake City. And they’ll be part of the event as well,” according to Zhang.

Zhang says there will be some shopping happening on-site, as participants will be given a 20% off coupon to shop the Jelenew showroom, or online, before their indoor cycling line releases to the general public.

To participate, Zhang says you can go to Jelenew’s Instagram site @jelenew_official, or to Chvrchcycle.com. Zhang says they’re at about 90% full, but there are some tickets still available, and donations for Women of the World, are always appreciated.
