SALT LAKE CITY — No one was caught or hurt in an avalanche near Donut Falls in Big Cottonwood Canyon on Monday afternoon.

The Utah Avalanche Center says the avalanche was triggered by two nearby skiers. The Center says the skiers were near the area when a snow pocket scooped up a volume of new snow that slid about 400 feet down the mountain.

While it was near Donut Falls, it was not near any trails. The skiers were not hurt and reported the avalanche once they were off the mountain.
