EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah — People in Eagle Mountain say their water tastes terrible, prompting worries about how safe it is to drink.

People are posting on Eagle Mountain’s Facebook Page saying their kids are sick and their pets are refusing to drink the water.

One person tells KSL NewsRadio he’s buying bottled water for his family for the foreseeable future.

The City said they have changed over to a different well, from well number 1, to well number 5.

Spokesperson Tyler Maffitt says tests on the water are all within the regulated levels.

“Our testing regularly has indicated since February 27th, when that switch was made, that the water is safe to consume,” Maffitt said.

But Maffitt did acknowledge that the taste and smell of the water are different.

“Just because there is a change in the flavor of the water it is not an indication that that water is unsafe to consume,” Maffitt said. “They are completely disconnected variables.”

Maffitt also says they want the residents of Eagle Mountain to feel safe about their water, so they’re taking people’s concerns seriously.
