SALT LAKE CITY— The all-time great snowpack numbers we’ve seen this winter have taken a toll on our commutes … and our paint jobs, and in some instances have sent more Utahns to the car wash.

Many Utahans are headed to nearby car washes more often this winter, as the snow just doesn’t seem to stop falling.

Claire Connors of Kaysville said she normally would take her car for a wash maybe twice a winter. But, this year it’s happening a lot more often.

“I’m just kind of fed up with it,” Connors said. “The dirtiness of my car was getting to me so … if it snows today, oh well.”

Connors said she likes to go in between storms, but, there have been few breaks to take advantage of.

To Kaysville resident Nina Nieder, the feeling’s mutual.

“You expect it to calm down, but … it feels like whenever you do wash your car it’s destined … to rain or snow the next day,” Neider said.

However, some Utahans like Hillary Brown are putting off those washes as long as possible.

“It seems like there’s never a day … (the wash is going to) last longer than a day,” Brown said. “I feel like I’d have to go every other day, and I don’t want to pay for it that often.”

But despite the many trips to get the gunk off, many agree it’s worth all the water coming our way this spring and summer.

“I think it’s so good that we’re getting snow … it’s been dry,” Connors said.

“I just hope it’s going to be so green (this spring and summer),” Neider said.

When asked if it was worth all the dirty floor mats, Connors and Neider in unison said, “Yes.”
