SALT LAKE CITY — In light of the recent abduction of four Americans in Mexico, the question is being asked among many who may be looking travel, ‘Is it safe to travel to Mexico?’ Two of the Americans were found alive, while the other two were found dead.

Gustabo Rodriguez, a producer for Dave and Dujanovic, joined the show Wednesday to provide safety tips. Rodriguez has family in Mexico and travels there at least once a year.

“How do you know if it’s safe to travel,” Dujanovic said. “I think you better know before you go.”

Dujanovic asks Rodriguez if there is anything the listeners should be aware of when it comes to making travel plans.

“So, typically the big touristy places are the safest places where you can go and travel,” Rodriguez said. “Also avoiding those states that are on the (travel advisory) list. Just avoid them.”

Rodriguez also says to avoid visiting tiny towns because that’s usually where the potential criminals live.

Dujanovic asked, “Would you say there’s one thing we should all do if you’re planning a trip to Mexico that you would put at the top of your list?”

“I always check the news,” he said. “Check the U.S. website. And every time I go out to Mexico, always look for those cops in the army, the Mexican army.”

Dave & Dujanovic can be heard weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon. on KSL NewsRadio. Users can find the show on the KSL NewsRadio website and app, as well as Apple Podcasts and Google Play.
