Utah’s COVID-19 transmissions slowed but still present

SALT LAKE CITY — According to recent updates, COVID-19 transmissions have decelerated in most counties of Utah; however, the virus is still present. 

Piute and San Juan counties are experiencing medium transmission levels, while the rest of the state is showing slower rates of transmission.

As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Utah has recorded a total of 1,092,722 COVID-19 cases to date. The state has made progress in terms of vaccination, with 64% of the population having received their first dose.

Furthermore, nearly 15% of the population has already received a booster shot.

The virus continues to claim lives, with seven deaths reported due to COVID-19 in the state during the last week.
