LOGAN, Utah — North Park Police are investigating a bomb threat at a North Logan Walmart on Friday afternoon.
Police tell KSL two males, between the ages of 16 and 20, went into the Walmart just before 3:30 p.m. They informed employees that they had left a bomb inside.
“Out of abundance of caution, Walmart called it into dispatch,” said North Park Police Chief Kent Goodrich. “Who in turn alerted the agencies.”
The incident forced the evacuation of the Walmart. Goodrich says a bomb-sniffing dog from Utah State was called to the scene. He had the dog follow the path of the two individuals, but no bomb was discovered.
“With the seriousness of the threat and the recent events with the school shooting that happened, we treated it as a serious threat,” Goodrich said.
North Park Police released a photo of the two suspects on its Facebook page.
“There was quite a disruption today to the store, to the citizens,” Goodrich said. “There was quite a loss of income to the store.”
He says there were roughly 300 shopping carts with grocery items that had to be abandoned due to the evacuation.
Goodrich said Logan Police, Cache County Sheriff’s Office, Utah State University Police, Utah Highway Patrol and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
