DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah — The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office says an individual died over the weekend in an ice climbing accident on Raven Falls near Indian Canyon in Duchesne County.

According to a news release, the Sheriff’s Office received information of a column of ice falling on Sunday.  Three individuals were climbing in the area at the time.

The release states that one of the individuals pushed their fellow climber, a 21-year-old female, out of the way. “Which probably saved her life,” the release read.

The 21-year-old female was able to climb down the terrain, drive into Duchesne City and call 911. A third climber, a 34-year-old male, fell roughly 40 feet when the ice column fractured upon impact.
