COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah — The Cottonwood Heights fire department discovered a flooding stormwater box early Monday morning at Wasatch Blvd. and Russel Park Road.
Paul Brenneman, the assistant chief with Cottonwood Heights Police, told KSL that the storm drain was plugged with mud, which lead to the overflow.
“It (the water) made into the backyard of two residences but not inside the homes,” Brenneman said. “But there’s nothing major.”
The water was running over Wasatch Boulevard in the area, from east to west.
The Cottonwood Heights Public Works Department began mitigation and police were working to manage the early morning traffic.
In previous years, nearly three thousand tons of debris have been removed from storm drains and ditches across Salt Lake City.
