SALT LAKE CITY — Granite School District’s Twin Peaks Elementary School students are sending their principal to the roof after raising over $3,000.

The goal for Twin Peaks students was to raise $2000 in the name of legacy. Specifically, the elementary challenged students to a “Penny War”, encouraging students in each grade to collect loose change.

This occurred throughout March in order to raise funds for a community event. The event is to celebrate the legacy of Twin Peaks Elementary.

A May 19 community celebration will honor the legacy of Twin Peaks and the impact it has had on the community.

In a separate, more unusual situation, Twin Peaks Principal Rachel Lowry will spend the night on the roof of the school as a reward to the students for meeting their goal.

The school will host a community event for Lowry’s rooftop sleepover starting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023. All are welcome to witness bedtime stories before Principal Lowry heads to the roof for her “night under the stars.”

The following morning on Friday, students and staff will celebrate as Principal Lowry returns down to the school.
