SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City officials advised residents to avoid 1700 South between 1500 East and 1700 East due to flooding on Wednesday. The flooding came just a few hours before the National Weather Service Salt Lake released a flood advisory for parts of Salt Lake.

NWS Salt Lake’s advisory covers Emigration Creek and “areas downstream.” The advisory will last from now until 12 p.m. Thursday.

Flooding on 1700 South

The Salt Lake County Emergency Management Bureau advised residents to avoid 1700 South up to 1900 East. Wasatch Hollow Park is also closed because of the flooding.

Crews have been working to divert water away from homes since early Wednesday morning. By 3 p.m., city officials said the flooding had calmed down but crews would keep an eye on it overnight.

A video from the Salt Lake City Police Department shows the flooded area.

The SLCPD advised residents to never cross a flooded street.

The Salt Lake County Emergency Management Bureau advised that there is no estimated time of reopening for the area.
