Garden City official declares state of emergency, due to flooding

GARDEN CITY, Utah — The Mayor of Garden City, Mike Leonhardt, issued a state of emergency for the city, on April 30, due to flooding.

Several different locations in the city have active flooding. Luckily, there are no significant damage thus far.

The mayor encourages second-home residents in the city to check on their homes.

“Second home-owners that are around Bear Lake, just trying to get them to be aware that we are on high alert,” said Mayor Leonhardt.

A few residents have experienced some water entering their homes.

“We are seeing tons of flood waters coming down the mountain,” Mayor Leonhardt said.

Efforts are being made to redirect water off the roads and into ditches.
