SALT LAKE CITY — Emigration Creek was running high again on Monday and Tuesday. And crews are working to avoid flooding like the area experienced in April.

Nate Wilcox with Salt Lake County’s flood control says they are letting a catch basin at Wasatch Hollow drain. By doing this, it can fill up again Monday night.

“With it being so hot, we just want to make sure that there’s enough room to hold everything so we don’t have any issues,” Wilcox said.

Emigration Creek is the same spot where a metal sheet caused flooding a few weeks prior and crews diverted water down 1700 South.

Wilcox says he doesn’t expect flooding again in this spot. But they’re prepared if it does.

Crews will be on the scene until flooding is no longer a risk, according to Wilcox.
