PROVO, Utah — A violent hoax threat made this morning had Provo and Alpine School Districts on high alert.
Provo School District Spokesman Caleb Price said the threat was shared locally on social media and wasn’t directed at one particular school.
“What we’ve heard is that similar threats have been made across the country and ours was one of those,” Price told KSL NewsRadio.
Parents of students in the Alpine District received an email saying the hoax threat originated in Florida.
Price also says that there are very few specifics surrounding the hoax threat besides it being one of violent nature.
Consequently, Provo and Orem police exercised extra caution when dealing with this threat after multiple hoax threats were made to Utah schools back in March.

KSL NewsRadio’s Adam Small was at Provo High School this morning, saying that students arrived business as usual.
However, Small reported seeing two patrol cars in front of the entrance to the high school and another one by the football field.
