WEST VALLEY, Utah — A Mother’s Day drive-thru is taking place this Saturday in order to give gift baskets to refugee mothers in Utah.
Roots High School students and employees at Ken Garff West Valley put together over 300 baskets filled with a variety of flowers as part of a large giveaway at the Olene Walker Elementary School in SLC.
From 11 a.m.- 1 p.m., refugee mothers can attend the celebration where volunteers will also be handing out mini cakes, home goods and more. The drive-thru style celebration will also have balloons and music.
This event is a part of the “We’re ‘Hear’ for You” initiative, created when the pandemic began, to give back to the community.
“Working with Utah Refugee Connection, we saw an opportunity to reach out with love,” said Kate Terry, Sr. Community Partnership and Events Manager at Ken Garff Automotive Group in a press release. “Our employees love giving back to the community and bring family members to share the love and smiles, making sure these women feel welcome, loved and appreciated.”
