SALT LAKE CITY — A new statewide campaign is growing that allows people to report water usage.

So far 90 percent of the 50 reports they’ve received since May’s launch to the Hall of Fame or Shame are about over-waterers or bad habits.

But you can report good habits too, and those people are eligible for gift cards. Joshua Palmer with the Utah Division of Water Resources says they use those examples to teach others.

Palmer says water wasters are not publicly shamed, instead they are educated. He says often it’s a business or government entity that didn’t know what was happening.

The Division is using this data to help them know what they can do better when it comes to education and water-wise campaigns.
