SALT LAKE CITY — The heat could be record breaking this week around Utah. And it means worries of injury and illness for people.

Utah Department of Public Safety Sgt Jalaine Hawkes says hikers should be careful.

“Yesterday our helicopter went to rescue a family that got mixed up, turned around and separated. They were in Southern Utah, where there are big concerns of heat,” she said.

Sgt Hawkes says parents must be vigilant about kids in cars with these record breaking temperatures, too.

“Put a toy in your front seat by your briefcase or phone, and when you get to work and grab your things you see the toy, and it reminds you to check the back seat,” she said.
